Christopher Kalwa, Director of Bands
Christopher Kalwa is the Director of Bands at Martin County High School and is entering his second year leading the Martin County High School band program. With 18 years of teaching experience, he brings extensive musical knowledge, a passion for music education, and a strong commitment to helping students grow as musicians and performers. A saxophonist by training, Mr. Kalwa utilizes his years of classroom and ensemble experience to guide the Tiger Regiment leadership and foster a culture of teamwork, excellence, and pride throughout the band program staff.
Marilyn Southwick, Assistant to the Director
Marilyn Southwick, a dedicated teacher at Anderson Middle School, is currently serving as the Assistant to the Director and as a Board Member at Large for the Martin County High School Band Boosters. Since 2021, she has been an actively involved supporter of the Martin County High School band program, specifically contributing to the Tiger Regiment leadership. As a proud alumna of Martin County High School from the Class of 1996, Marilyn also participated in the Color Guard during her time as a student. Her strong connection to the band program has continued as an alumna, band parent, and enthusiastic supporter, allowing her to bring a valuable mix of experience, history, and dedication. Through her ongoing involvement, she demonstrates her commitment to supporting the Director, the Booster organization, and helping today’s students create lasting memories through the Tiger Regiment.
Priscilla Szollosy, Color Guard Director
Priscilla Szollosy has been a vital part of the band program staff at Martin County High School for four years, bringing with her 16 years of experience in DCI and WGI. Her extensive background provides a profound understanding of the technique, creativity, discipline, and teamwork necessary to deliver unforgettable performances. Under the Tiger Regiment leadership, Priscilla empowers Color Guard members to hone their skills, build confidence, and enhance their stage presence, all while adding a crucial visual dimension to the ensemble's performances.
Alexander Hastings, Color Guard Instructor
Alexander Hastings is starting his first year as a Colorguard Instructor with the Martin County High School band program. He brings a unique performance background and creative perspective to the Tiger Regiment leadership, assisting Colorguard members in strengthening their technique, confidence, and visual presence. Beyond his role in the band program staff, Alexander is also a fire performer, showcasing his passion for performance and his ability to captivate an audience. He eagerly anticipates sharing his experience and helping students deliver dynamic, memorable performances on the field.
Erick Cisneros, Color Guard Instructor
Erick Cisneros brings four years of experience to his role as a Color Guard Instructor with the Tiger Regiment, part of the Martin County High School band program staff. His extensive performance background and expertise provide our students with valuable instruction as they continue to develop their skills, confidence, and artistry.
A notable achievement in Erick’s performance career is earning a WGI Gold Medal in Independent World Class, a prestigious accomplishment in the indoor color guard activity. He applies this high-level performance experience and his dedication to excellence in his role within the Tiger Regiment leadership.
